Dwellings
Wolastoqiyik used resources from the environment to create wikuwamol, or wigwams. When constructing their lodges, Wolastoqey woman gathered poles from the forest. The poles were stuck into the ground in a circle around a fire. The upper ends were leaned together to form a pyramid shape. Birchbark or animal skin was wrapped around this shell to create walls. Boughs were then placed on the ground and covered with a mat or an animal skin for comfort and warmth.
